Breathe away the pain: 4-7-8 technique tested for gallbladder surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT07303634

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether teaching patients a specific deep breathing technique (the 4-7-8 method) before and after gallbladder removal surgery can lower their pain, anxiety, and improve sleep quality. About 100 adults having laparoscopic gallbladder surgery will be split into two groups: one will practice the breathing technique, and the other will receive standard care. Researchers will measure pain, anxiety, sleep, oxygen levels, and how long patients stay in the hospital.
