3D imaging aims to reduce repeat breast cancer surgeries

NCT ID NCT07426809

Summary

This study is testing whether a new 3D imaging system used right in the operating room helps surgeons better see if they've removed all the cancer during breast-conserving surgery. 314 patients will be randomly assigned to have their removed tissue checked with either the standard 2D X-ray or the new 3D imaging system during their operation. The main goal is to see if the 3D system leads to fewer patients needing a second surgery because cancer cells were found at the edge of the removed tissue.
