3D-Printed bodies aim to transform transgender surgical care

NCT ID NCT07412509

Summary

This study explores whether creating personalized 3D-printed models of a patient's anatomy can improve their understanding of a complex gender-affirming surgery called peritoneal vaginoplasty. Researchers at the University of Chicago will use these models to help explain the procedure, its risks, and benefits to patients before surgery. The goal is to see if this visual tool enhances communication, surgical planning, and patient comfort with their care.
