New ultrasound technique may predict chemo success early in breast cancer
NCT ID NCT02834494
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special 3D ultrasound technique (Shear Wave Elastography) can accurately predict how well breast tumors respond to chemotherapy before surgery. Researchers measured tumor stiffness at several points during treatment in 140 women with locally advanced breast cancer. The goal was to see if this imaging method could help doctors know early if the chemotherapy is working, potentially allowing adjustments to treatment.
