New study tests cheaper, safer CT scans for lung surgery planning

NCT ID NCT07234604

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study compares 3D models made from CT scans without contrast dye to standard 2D contrast CT scans for planning minimally invasive lung surgery. Researchers want to see if the 3D approach is just as accurate at showing blood vessels, airways, and tumor location. About 50 adults with early-stage lung cancer will take part. If successful, it could reduce the need for contrast dye, which carries risks for some patients.
