Could a sip of water replace complex swallow tests?

NCT ID NCT06120790

Summary

This study is testing whether a simple 3 oz water sip test can safely screen for swallowing problems in patients with tracheostomy tubes. Researchers will compare this quick bedside test to the current, more complex gold-standard swallowing exams. The goal is to find a faster, easier way to identify which patients are at risk for food or liquid entering their lungs.
