First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 07, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This pilot study tested a drug called 3,4-diaminopyridine (FIRDAPSE) in 3 people with severe botulism who needed a breathing machine. The goal was to see if the drug could improve muscle and breathing function. Researchers measured changes in electrical signals from muscles and breathing before and after giving the drug. The study was small and early-stage, so results are limited.
