Summary
This study tested the safety and early immune response of a new 23-valent pneumococcal vaccine designed to help prevent pneumonia. It involved 144 healthy volunteers, including children (ages 2-17), adults (18-59), and older adults (60+). Researchers monitored participants for side effects for 6 months and checked their blood for antibody levels before and after receiving one dose of either the new vaccine or a control vaccine.
