First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested a special PET scan (18F-fluorocholine) to find overactive parathyroid glands in 139 people with primary hyperparathyroidism who needed surgery. The scan's accuracy was compared to the standard sestamibi scan. The goal was to see if this newer imaging method could better locate the problem gland before surgery.
