Sound waves zapped at nerves could ease back pain

This study looks at using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to treat low back pain. HIFU uses sound waves to heat and disable small nerves that may cause pain. Researchers will follow 60 adults for 6 months to see if the procedure reduces pain and improves daily life.
