Spine fracture study: is surgery always needed?

This study looks at adults with a broken back (thoracolumbar spine) but no nerve problems. Half will get surgery to fix the bone, and half will wear a brace for six weeks. The goal is to see if avoiding surgery works just as well for recovery and pain over two years.
