Neonatal iodine exposure

A rare endocrine disease characterized by the appearance of transient hypothyroidism, usually in preterm newborns, following long or short-term topical iodine exposure. Parenteral exposure from iodinated contrast agents may similarly alter thyroid function in term neonates.
