First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether a simple nudge—a reminder built into the electronic health record—can help doctors follow guidelines when ordering CT scans for pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung). About 440 doctors across 10 emergency departments will be studied over 33 months. The goal is to reduce scans that aren't needed, without missing dangerous clots.
