Will a deeper genetic test unlock better cancer care?
NCT ID NCT04614480
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study is testing whether a more detailed 'complex' analysis of a patient's tumor DNA can help doctors choose better treatments than a standard 'simple' analysis. About 8,000 adults with advanced solid tumors will have their exome (genetic code) analyzed both ways. The goal is to see if the complex analysis leads to treatments that would not have been considered otherwise.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
exome analysis (genetic test)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a more detailed genetic test helps doctors choose better cancer treatments for patients.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 study, so it is still early. The complex analysis may not lead to better treatment decisions or outcomes for most patients.
Conditions

As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
