Zinc shield: daily supplement may keep seniors out of hospital

Summary
This study will test whether taking a 22 mg zinc supplement every day for 12 months can help older adults (65+) stay out of the hospital and reduce infections. About 8,000 participants from the emergency department will either receive zinc or no supplement. Researchers will track hospital visits, antibiotic use, and deaths over one year.
