New wound dressing aims to cut infection risk in severe leg breaks
NCT ID NCT06337292
First seen May 17, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a special vacuum dressing (negative pressure wound therapy) can reduce infections and other wound problems after surgery for high-risk leg fractures. About 352 adults with severe tibia fractures will be randomly assigned to get either the vacuum dressing or a standard bandage. The goal is to see which approach leads to fewer complications like infections, additional surgeries, or poor wound healing.
