Liver cancer remission: is surgery still needed?
NCT ID NCT05349331
First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looked at 74 adults with liver cancer that could not be removed at first. After initial treatments like chemoembolization, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, some patients had a complete response (no visible cancer). The study compared two approaches: surgery to remove any remaining tumor versus a watch-and-wait strategy. The goal was to see which approach better prevents cancer from coming back or progressing.
