Tiny patch could keep kids safe after ICU discharge
NCT ID NCT04627766
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests a small, wearable chest patch (VT-Patch) that continuously monitors vital signs in children after they leave the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The goal is to see if the patch can accurately track heart rate, breathing, oxygen levels, and temperature compared to standard hospital monitors. If successful, the patch could help doctors spot early signs of trouble and reduce the need for children to return to the ICU. The study involves 48 children at St. Justine's Hospital.
