First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding virtual reality goggles to stationary cycling is practical for older adults (65+) in short-term rehab. Twenty participants will try 20-minute VR cycling sessions three times a week for up to four weeks. The goal is to see if they stick with it and enjoy it, which could lead to more effective rehab.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

virtual reality-assisted ergometer cycling

What this could lead to

If it works, this could make exercise more enjoyable and help older adults in rehab get more physical activity.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study with only 20 people, so results may not apply widely. It's testing feasibility, not effectiveness, and VR may cause dizziness or discomfort.
