First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested an experimental gene therapy called VM202 (Engensis) to see if it could safely reduce pain in people with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. About 500 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes received either VM202 injections in their legs or a placebo. The main goal was to measure changes in daily pain scores over 90 days and check for side effects.
