First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study will test whether taking a daily vitamin D supplement (2,000 IU) during pregnancy can prevent preeclampsia, eclampsia, and HELLP syndrome in about 1,980 pregnant women in Uganda. Participants will receive either vitamin D or a placebo from their first visit until delivery, and their health will be tracked for six weeks after birth. The goal is to find a simple, low-cost way to improve safety for mothers and babies.
