Simple vitamin pill tested to stop severe pain after broken wrist

NCT ID NCT05842395

Summary

This study tested whether taking vitamin C daily for 90 days could prevent a severe, chronic pain condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) from developing after a broken wrist. 220 adults with a specific type of wrist fracture were randomly assigned to take either vitamin C or a placebo pill. Researchers followed participants for one year to see if the vitamin C group developed CRPS less often than the placebo group.
