Can a vitamin pill cut painkiller use after ER visits?
NCT ID NCT05555576
Summary
This study is testing whether taking vitamin C for two weeks can help people use fewer opioid painkillers after being treated in the emergency room for sudden injuries like sprains, strains, or fractures. Researchers will compare 464 adults who are given either vitamin C or a placebo pill. The main goal is to see if the vitamin C group uses fewer opioid pills and reports less pain over two weeks, and if it helps prevent long-term pain three months later.
