Tiny patch could keep kids safe after ICU discharge
NCT ID NCT04627766
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study is testing a small, sticky chest patch (VT-Patch) that continuously tracks vital signs like heart rate, breathing, oxygen, and temperature in children leaving the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). About 48 children will wear the patch for 8 hours while their standard monitors also record the same measurements. The goal is to see if the patch is accurate enough to help doctors spot early warning signs and prevent kids from needing to return to the ICU.
