First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested whether virtual reality (VR) goggles could distract children ages 5-21 during a blood draw, reducing their pain and anxiety. Half of the 126 hospitalized children received standard care (numbing cream), while the other half also wore VR goggles. Researchers measured pain and anxiety before and after the procedure to see if VR helped.
