First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests a drug called veverimer in 150 adults with moderate-to-severe chronic kidney disease (CKD) and a condition called metabolic acidosis, where too much acid builds up in the blood. The goal is to see if the drug can raise blood bicarbonate levels and improve physical function, like standing up from a chair or walking. Participants take the drug or a placebo for 26 weeks and must not need dialysis or a kidney transplant during the study.
