First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study took leftover tumor tissue from 100 patients having surgery for vestibular schwannoma (a non-cancerous brain tumor) and used it to grow miniature versions called organoids in the lab. The goal was to create a living biobank to study why these tumors resist treatment. No new treatments were tested; the focus was on understanding the tumor's biology.
