Doctors test which breathing machine setting gets patients off ventilators faster

NCT ID NCT05563779

Summary

This pilot study tested three different methods of mechanical ventilation to see which helps critically ill patients breathe on their own sooner. Researchers compared volume control, pressure control, and adaptive pressure control modes in 566 adults with respiratory failure. The goal was to determine which approach results in more days alive without needing the breathing machine.
