New breathing vest tested against standard machine for hospital patients

NCT ID NCT06108284

Summary

This study aimed to see if a newer type of breathing support, which uses a vest-like device (Biphasic Cuirass Ventilation), works as well as the standard mask-based machine (Non-invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation) for patients hospitalized with a sudden, severe breathing problem caused by high carbon dioxide. It was a small pilot study involving 50 adults. The main goal was to compare how quickly and effectively each method helped patients' breathing return to normal.
