First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study compares two invasive treatments—placing a stent in a brain vein or a shunt to drain fluid—for people with idiopathic intracranial hypertension whose vision is at risk despite medication. About 276 adults with confirmed high pressure and narrowed brain veins will be randomly assigned to one procedure. The goal is to see which approach better resolves optic nerve swelling and preserves eyesight.
