Summary

This study compares healthy long-term vegans, omnivores, and omnivores who switch to a vegan diet for one month. Researchers measure body weight, body fat, cholesterol, inflammation markers, and quality of life to see how diet affects metabolic health. The goal is to understand both the immediate and long-term effects of a plant-based diet.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
vegan diet
What this could lead to
If the results show clear differences, this could help clarify whether short-term or long-term vegan eating patterns affect metabolic health and quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, non-randomized study with only 31 participants, so findings may not apply broadly. Diet adherence and self-reporting can also affect accuracy.
