Cheaper antibiotic challenge to stop deadly gut infection comebacks

NCT ID NCT07328971

Summary

This study aims to see if a specific, tapering schedule of the antibiotic vancomycin works as well as another antibiotic, fidaxomicin, at preventing C. difficile infections from coming back. It will enroll 500 adults experiencing their first or second C. diff infection. The goal is to find a more affordable and widely available treatment option that can keep the infection from recurring.
