NCT ID NCT07079735

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study compares two medications, letermovir and valganciclovir, to see which is safer and more effective at preventing CMV infection in heart transplant recipients at moderate to high risk. About 150 adults who have recently received a heart transplant will take one of the two drugs for several months. The main goal is to see which drug causes fewer side effects like low white blood cell counts, while also preventing CMV virus from appearing in the blood.
