Nerve-Saving surgery may reduce ulcer risk after gastric bypass

NCT ID NCT05357443

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study examines whether keeping the vagus nerve intact during gastric bypass surgery changes levels of the hormone gastrin and lowers the chance of developing painful ulcers near the stomach connection. Researchers will measure gastrin before and after surgery in 50 adults undergoing routine gastric bypass. The goal is to understand how nerve preservation might improve outcomes.
