Donor vaccine shields cancer patients from dangerous Post-Transplant virus
NCT ID NCT03560752
Summary
This study is testing a new vaccine approach to prevent a common and dangerous viral infection called CMV in patients receiving a stem cell transplant for blood cancer. Researchers are vaccinating the healthy stem cell donors before the transplant, hoping the donor's boosted immunity will be passed to the patient. The goal is to see if this reduces the chance of CMV infection in the vulnerable patient after their transplant.
