Pee test could spot rare cancer earlier
NCT ID NCT06805630
First seen Nov 12, 2025 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study is testing whether a urine test that looks for DNA markers can help diagnose and monitor upper tract urothelial cancer (UTUC), a rare cancer of the kidney and ureter. Researchers will collect urine samples from 50 patients before surgery and during follow-up visits. The test results will be compared to standard methods like urine cell analysis and tissue biopsy to see if the new approach is accurate and useful.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Urine methylation biomarker test (Bladder CARE™)
What this could lead to
If successful, this urine test could offer a simpler, less invasive way to detect and monitor upper tract urothelial cancer, potentially catching recurrences earlier.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 50 participants. The test may not prove accurate enough to replace current methods, and results may not apply to all patients.
Conditions
