Engineered immune cells take on lupus in first human safety trial

NCT ID NCT07339332

First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new type of cell therapy (called universal CD19/20 CAR-T) in 12 adults with moderate to severe lupus that hasn't responded to standard treatments. The main goals are to check safety and find the right dose. Researchers will also watch for signs that the treatment might help control the disease. This is not a cure, as patients may still need ongoing management.
