Autism smell and taste study tests natural supplement
NCT ID NCT07631455
First seen Jun 08, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a natural supplement called ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide (umPEA) can improve smell, taste, and other sensory issues in children with autism. Eighty children took either umPEA or a standard treatment (probiotics plus omega-3) for six months. Researchers used a simple questionnaire to see if symptoms got better. The goal was to find a gentler way to ease sensory problems that affect daily life.
