Umbilical cord injection may cut Post-Birth bleeding better than IV
NCT ID NCT07566455
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether injecting oxytocin into the umbilical cord reduces blood loss after delivery better than giving it through a vein. Sixty women with uncomplicated pregnancies were randomly assigned to one of the two methods. Researchers measured blood loss during the third stage of labor and for 24 hours after birth to see which approach works best.
