New ultrasound technique may reduce pain and opioid use in child circumcisions

NCT ID NCT06706375

First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether using ultrasound to guide a numbing injection (penile block) before circumcision provides better pain relief and fewer complications than the standard method using anatomical landmarks. About 216 boys under 18 will be randomly assigned to one of the two techniques. The main goal is to see if the ultrasound approach reduces the need for morphine after surgery.
