New nerve block may cut opioid use after hip surgery

NCT ID NCT07240961

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether an ultrasound-guided nerve block (called an erector spinae plane block) can reduce pain and the need for morphine after total hip replacement. Sixty adults having hip surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block plus standard pain care or standard care alone. The goal is to see if the block leads to better pain control and faster recovery.
