Numbing shot could replace sedation for shoulder dislocations
NCT ID NCT07544485
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at 206 adults who came to the emergency room with a dislocated shoulder. Instead of using strong sedatives, doctors tried a small injection of numbing medicine around the shoulder nerves, guided by ultrasound. The goal was to see if this approach could safely and effectively allow the shoulder to be put back into place without sedation. The results suggest this technique may be a good alternative for pain relief during the procedure.
