First seen Jun 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested whether low-intensity transcranial ultrasound stimulation (TUS) can ease negative symptoms of schizophrenia, such as lack of motivation and social withdrawal. 78 adults with stable schizophrenia received either real or sham ultrasound over the left prefrontal cortex for 20 days. Researchers measured changes in symptom scales and brain scans to see if the treatment works and how it affects the brain.
