Sound waves may boost melasma cream absorption, new trial says

NCT ID NCT07202156

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether using ultrasound can help two common melasma medicines (tranexamic acid and glutathione) get deeper into the skin. Melasma causes dark patches on the face, and these medicines are hard to absorb because they are water-based. The trial will compare treated and untreated sides of the face in 35 adults to see if the ultrasound method safely improves skin lightening.
