Simple urine test may spot kidney damage in kids after heart surgery before it worsens

NCT ID NCT03263325

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a substance called UDP-glucose in urine can help doctors find kidney injury earlier in children who have had heart surgery. Current tests often miss early signs, leading to delays in care. Researchers will collect urine samples from 305 children aged 8 or younger to see if this new marker works better.
