New drugs aim to slow type 1 diabetes in its tracks

Summary

This study is testing two experimental drugs, abrocitinib and ritlecitinib, to see if they can help preserve the body's remaining insulin-producing cells in people recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The trial involves 78 participants aged 12-35 who were diagnosed within the last 100 days. Participants will take one of the drugs or a placebo for 12 months, with researchers measuring their insulin production and overall health to see if the treatment helps.
