Drug trial aims to curb blood loss in risky cancer surgeries

NCT ID NCT03128866

Summary

This early study is testing if a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA) can safely reduce blood loss during a major surgery to remove pelvic tumors. The surgery, called a hemipelvectomy, often involves significant bleeding. Researchers will compare blood loss and transfusion needs in about 80 patients who either receive TXA or undergo standard surgery without it.
