Can a simple drug prevent dangerous bleeding in blood cancer?

NCT ID NCT06599762

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether tranexamic acid (TXA), a medication that helps blood clots stay in place, can safely reduce bleeding in people with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) or acute myeloid leukemia (AML). About 75 adults receiving low-intensity chemotherapy and having low platelet counts will be randomly assigned to take TXA or a placebo. The main goal is to see if the drug lowers the risk and severity of bleeding, which could improve quality of life and reduce hospital visits.
