Shock therapy for bladders: simple combo eases menopause woes

NCT ID NCT07538895

First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested a new approach for post-menopausal women who have trouble fully emptying their bladder. Researchers combined a mild nerve stimulation technique (like a TENS unit on the ankle) with pelvic exercises. Sixty women participated, with one group receiving the combo treatment for 12 weeks and the other getting standard advice. The goal was to see if the treatment reduced the amount of urine left in the bladder after urination.
