Metabolic disease may lengthen nerve block recovery time

NCT ID NCT01323075

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study looked at 120 people having hand or wrist surgery to see if those with kidney failure or diabetes recover feeling from a nerve block more slowly than those without these conditions. Researchers measured how long numbness lasted after the block. The goal was to learn how metabolic diseases affect anesthesia, not to provide a treatment.
